Abstract

ABSTRACT

Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta Library provides discussion rooms to support students’ academic activities. However, the current borrowing process is still handled manually and via instant messaging, which is considered inefficient due to queues, unclear schedules, and the risk of recording errors. This study aims to design a web-based blueprint for a library discussion-room booking system using the Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach. The research method includes a literature study, system requirements analysis, system modeling using Unified Modeling Language (UML), menu structure design, and the development of a high-fidelity interface prototype. The results are a comprehensive system design consisting of a use case diagram, activity diagram, menu structure, and interface prototype as a reference for future implementation. The proposed blueprint defines booking rules limited to working days (Monday–Friday) and operating hours (08:00–16:00) with flexible booking duration within that range, while preventing schedule conflicts (double booking). In addition, the design includes an automatic cancellation rule when check-in is not confirmed more than 30 minutes after the scheduled start time, and the prototype evaluation is conducted through cognitive walkthrough and heuristic evaluation without direct involvement of end users [6][7].
